Meet Velopulent CMS

Updating a website shouldn’t mean filing a request with a developer and waiting a week. It also shouldn’t mean paying per seat for a content tool, or stitching together a database, a file host and a hosting plan before anyone can publish a single page.

Velopulent CMS is our answer to both problems. It gives your team one place to write, organise and publish everything your website says. It’s free and open source, and it’s in beta today.

A calm place to write

Writers get a clean editor with rich text and Markdown, a live preview, and version history, so an earlier draft is never lost. Images and files sit in a shared media library next to the content that uses them.

The dashboard also installs as an app on your laptop or phone, so you can fix a typo from wherever you happen to be.

Your content, on any website

You decide what your content looks like. Blog posts, product listings, documentation, landing pages and portfolios each get the fields they need.

That content then works with whatever your website is built on, whether that’s Next.js, Astro, Nuxt, Svelte or something else. When you hit publish, Velopulent CMS can tell Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages to rebuild your site, so changes go live without anyone touching the code. AI assistants can read and work with your content too.

One dashboard for many sites

Agencies and teams with more than one website can run them all from a single install. Each site keeps its own content, media and people. Editors can write, viewers can look, and admins look after the whole setup.

Small, quick and cheap to run

The whole thing, dashboard included, is a single file that uses less than 15 MB of memory while it runs. You download it, start it and you’re in. It’s happy on a small, inexpensive server, and it can grow onto a larger database when your site does.

Backups you don’t have to think about

Schedule backups and forget about them. They’re encrypted and can be stored on your own server or in cloud storage such as AWS S3. If something goes wrong, you can restore a whole site from the dashboard.

Free, and yours to keep

There are no licences, seats or invoices. Velopulent CMS runs on infrastructure you choose, and because the code is open, anyone can check exactly what it does with your content. If you ever want to leave, your data leaves with you.
